Senior Estimator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced
Senior Estimator
to join our team and lead the pursuit of complex, large-scale
heavy civil infrastructure projects
. This role is critical in developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating risks, and shaping competitive proposals for projects that include highways, bridges, underground utilities, water/wastewater systems, site development, and other heavy civil scopes.

As a Senior Estimator, you will collaborate closely with executives, project managers, business development, and field operations teams to deliver winning bids while ensuring constructability and cost efficiency. This is a leadership role with the opportunity to mentor junior estimators and play a key part in the company's continued growth and success in the heavy civil market.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, utilities, paving, concrete, and structures.
• Review design documents, specifications, and project requirements to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop quantity take-offs, pricing, and subcontractor/vendor solicitations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
• Oversee preparation of bid proposals, budgets, schedules, and cash flow projections.
• Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure seamless project handoff.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to junior estimators and support staff.
• Stay current with market pricing, industry trends, and construction means and methods.
• Contribute to strategic business development by analyzing competitors, market positioning, and bid strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in
  Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of estimating experience
  in heavy civil construction, including highways, bridges, utilities, or site development.
• Proven ability to prepare accurate, detailed estimates for projects ranging from $10M–$200M+.
• Strong knowledge of
  construction means and methods, materials, and market pricing
  .
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong leadership ability with experience mentoring or managing a team.
