Summary
As a Senior Business Systems Analyst for API Services, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital backbone of our enterprise. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, translate complex business needs into innovative API solutions, and drive seamless integration across systems. You'll influence architecture decisions, champion governance and security standards, and ensure our APIs deliver value to both developers and business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis
- Partner with business units, product owners, API-consuming ARTs, Core Processing System AOs/POs/TOs, and architects to capture and validate functional and non-functional requirements for API services.
- Convert business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows for agile delivery teams.
- Assess existing systems and workflows to identify integration points and opportunities for automation and optimization.
- Guide and facilitate the Azure APIM migration of M&T API's.
2. API Design & Documentation
- Collaborate with solution architects and developers to define API specifications aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Create and maintain API contracts, payload structures, and error-handling guidelines using tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Develop comprehensive documentation to support developer onboarding and API lifecycle management.
3. Governance & Compliance
- Ensure API solutions comply with security protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Support API governance processes, including version control, deprecation strategies, and audit readiness.
- Work with risk and compliance teams to address audit findings and mitigate vulnerabilities.
4. Delivery Support & Testing
- Serve as a liaison during development and testing phases, clarifying requirements and resolving ambiguities.
- Assist API QA in defining and executing test cases for API functionality, performance, and security.
- Validate that delivered APIs meet business objectives, technical specifications, and quality standards.
5. Stakeholder Communication & Change Management
- Lead workshops and demos to showcase API capabilities and communicate changes to stakeholders.
- Conduct impact analysis for API updates to ensure smooth transitions for consuming applications.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on API usage, best practices, and governance standards.
Combined minimum of 8 years' combined higher education and/or operational/business analytics/systems development experience

Ability to recognize project milestones and delivery dates.
Ability to recommend and implement solutions.
