Position Summary
The Production Manager will serve as the operational leader responsible for building, launching, and managing a new appliance refurbishment facility focused on commercial washers and dryers. This role oversees the creation and implementation of all production processes, facility layout, workflow design, and staffing of the production team. The Production Manager ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality refurbished appliances while meeting aggressive production, cost, and quality targets. In this role, the manager will play a critical part in establishing the operational foundation for the facility.
Key Job Responsibilities
Facility Build-Out & Process Development
· Lead the end-to-end setup of a new laundry refurbishment production facility, including production line layout, workflow design, and safety considerations.
· Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for diagnostics, teardown, refurbishment, testing, quality assurance, and packaging.
· Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to ensure smooth commissioning and ramp-up
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives during build-out, iterating on layout, tooling, staffing plans, and processes to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality from day one.
· Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) detailing machine qualifications for shipment to the refurbishment production facility.
Operations Management
· Oversee daily production activities to meet or exceed output, quality, and efficiency goals.
· Implement efficient manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to reduce waste and optimize processes.
· Monitor production metrics, analyze performance data, and drive improvements using data-based decision-making.
· Partner with key vendors to ensure all processes are operationally supported to reinforce process efficiency and product quality throughput.
· Supervise the remanufacturing process of washers and dryers, establishing certified rebuild standards and production goals.
· Implement and maintain a quality control program to ensure all remanufactured equipment meets certification standards.
Inventory Management
· Oversee all parts, components, and finished-goods inventory required to support high-volume appliance refurbishment operations.
· Balance inventory production and allocation between localized demand and global inventory production lifecycles.
· Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to forecast parts demand, manage lead times, and ensure uninterrupted production flow.
Team Leadership
· Build, lead, and develop a customer-centric production team that consistently exceeds client expectations through exceptional communication, professionalism, and a premium, detail-oriented approach.
· Coach team performance to ensure consistency in quality, efficiency, and safety of work completed.
· Foster open communication and collaboration within the team to ensure seamless operations, timely project completion, and consistent delivery of exceptional service in every interaction.
· Cultivate a culture of safety, continuous improvement sets clear expectations, establishes key performance indicators, and holds team members accountable for results.
· Conducts regular performance reviews, provides ongoing feedback, and implements development plans to enhance individual and team performance.
Safety Compliance
· Ensure all team members follow safety protocols during the loading and unloading process, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Oversee the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and refurbishment of laundry equipment, ensuring all team members are properly trained and certified in forklift operation to comply with safety standards and optimize workflow.
Other Duties
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience
· High School Diploma, and 7 to 10 years related experience. College Degree Preferred, however, not required.
· Proven experience executing build out and day-to-day operation of production environment
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and understand general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, financial reports, legal documents, or governmental regulations.
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
· Proven ability to effectively present information to management and groups of employees.
· High-level ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
· High-level ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
· Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, a high ability to understand specialized technology systems.
· Strong tablet, smart phone, and computer skills.
Special Requirements, Licenses, or Certificates
· Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
· Ability to obtain a Motor Carrier Medical Examiner's Certificate.
· Maintain valid forklift certification per local government regulation and company policy, may also be required to hold a forklift trainer certification.
· Efficient record keeping skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy warehouse and delivery environment.
· Experience installing large appliances.
· Intermediate plumbing and/or electrical knowledge.
· Familiarity with mechanical and electrical functions.
Physical Requirements
· Specific physical demands may vary based on assigned geography or equipment.
· Ability to maneuver in restrictive areas; often squatting, kneeling, crawling, and reaching overhead, while lifting, holding, and maneuvering tools or service parts weighing from 20-50 lbs.
· Ability to walk flights of stairs, and to lift, push, and pull machines weighing up to 450 lbs. with proper equipment.
· Ability to occasionally drive long distances.
Classification and Work schedule
- Salaried exempt with performance based bonus eligibility
- Monday through Friday with occasional overnight travel
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 per year
