Job Title OSP Engineering Project Manager

Location Parsippany, NJ (Hybrid)

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., H-1B, O-1, etc.)

Position Overview:
The OSP Engineering Project Manager oversees the planning, design, and execution of Outside Plant Fiber Optic projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cross-functional teams, handling engineering design requirements, and ensuring that projects meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Designers, Engineers, Sub vendors and Associate Project Managers assigned to OSP and other telecommunications projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution:
o Lead and manage the complete project lifecycle for OSP fiber designs, from initial planning, site surveys, to final project closeout, ensuring alignment with client requirements, project timelines, and budget constraints.

o Support and collaborate with Associate Director to define project scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, quality standards, and deliverables ensuring alignment with both client expectations and internal executive standards.

o Risk and Issue Management: Anticipate and proactively address potential project and team challenges, delivering actionable solutions to the Associate Director before issues escalate.

o Foster clear and consistent communication among internal teams, external customers, and executive leadership to ensure alignment on project goals, updates, and expectations.

o Maintain a high level of accountability and ownership in all aspects of the performance of the program and projects, ensuring consistent alignment with business objectives and quality of work products.

o Act as the main point of contact with clients for all project-related communications. Address client concerns and ensure project expectations are met.

o Performs other related duties as required

Design and Engineering Oversight:
o Oversee the engineering design process for OSP infrastructure, including fiber routes, pole attachments, conduit systems, and right-of-way analysis, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

o Work within a team-oriented environment to prepare permitting and construction plans using applicable building and design codes

Scope and Budget Management:
o Define project scope, timelines, costs, resources, and deliverables in alignment with client and internal standards.

o Monitor and control budget to ensure profitability and adherence to project goals.

o Identify out of scope tasks and scope creep to request additional funds to complete the work

Regulatory Compliance:
o Assist with permitting processes, including traffic control plans and environmental reviews, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Quality Assurance:
o Implement and manage QA/QC processes on all engineering designs and deliverables to ensure adherence to OSP standards and technical accuracy.

o Complete technical and QA/QC reviews of drawings, structural reports, and technical letters completed by others providing meaningful feedback and coaching

Business Development and Client Relations:
o Identify and act on sales opportunities with both existing and potential clients to expand OSP Fiber services.

o Build, cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, continuously enhancing service delivery and client satisfaction.

Team Management and Mentorship:
o Lead and mentor project team members, providing guidance to improve performance, technical skills, project delivery standards, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

o Drive internal process improvements through people, processes, and technology to enhance team efficiency and project delivery.

o Promote integrity and ethics within the team in respect to proper business conduct

o Work with the Vice President of PMO & Innovation to identify and implement process improvements to streamline project workflows and increase internal efficiencies (e.g., Project Dashboard creation, client database process optimization, etc).

o Coordinate in-house professionals and subconsultants to effectively prioritize multiple conflicting projects and goals to successfully complete deliverables within established budgets and deadlines

Data Management and Reporting:
o Ensure accurate data entry, tracking, and management of all project-related information within Azimuths Sitetracker platform or other company-required systems, and client databases as required.

o Generate specific reports to manage and monitor all project and financial aspects effectively.

o Executive Updates: Provide timely and accurate updates to executive management on project progress, team performance, and any emerging risks or opportunities.

o Information Flow: Act as a central point of communication, ensuring critical information is disseminated efficiently between team members and leadership to support informed decision-making.

o Proactive Issue Reporting: Identify potential challenges or delays and communicate these proactively to the team and executive management, along with recommended solutions or mitigations.

Staffing and Training:
o Ensure proper project staffing by assessing resource needs and coordinating with HR to onboard internal team members or recruit external 1099 contractors and subcontractors, as necessary.

o Manage and evaluate staffing options for projects, including identifying skill gaps, interviewing potential hires, and overseeing the selection of qualified sub-vendors to meet project demands and maintain quality standards.

Onboarding Coordination and Training:
o Develop and deliver comprehensive training plans for new employees, contractors, and subvendors, ensuring they understand project scope, OSP standards, and company procedures.
