About the Role:

As an Experienced Turning Machinist, you will play a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining precision turning machines to produce high-quality metal components. Your expertise will ensure that parts meet exact specifications and tolerances, contributing directly to the efficiency and success of production lines. You will interpret technical drawings and blueprints to set up machines and adjust tooling, ensuring optimal performance and minimal waste. Collaboration with quality control and engineering teams will be essential to troubleshoot issues and implement continuous improvements. Ultimately, your work will support the delivery of reliable products that meet customer requirements and industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating turning machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with CNC turning machines, lathes and mills.
  • In-depth knowledge of machining tools, materials, and measurement instruments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in machining or CNC operation (e.g., NIMS certification).
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC and manual turning machines to manufacture precision parts according to engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements and sequence of operations.
  • Perform routine inspections and measurements using precision instruments to ensure parts meet quality standards and tolerances.
  • Adjust machine settings and tooling as necessary to optimize production efficiency and part accuracy.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and engineering teams to identify and resolve machining issues and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following company safety protocols and performing regular equipment maintenance.
  • Document production activities, machine maintenance, and quality control data accurately and timely.

Skills:

The required skills enable the machinist to accurately interpret complex technical drawings and set up turning machines to produce parts that meet precise specifications. Proficiency with CNC and manual lathes allows for efficient operation and adjustment of machinery to maintain quality and productivity. Measurement and inspection skills are critical for verifying part dimensions and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Preferred skills such as CAD/CAM programming enhance the machinist's ability to optimize machine operations and reduce setup times. Additionally, knowledge of lean manufacturing and maintenance supports continuous process improvements and equipment reliability, contributing to overall operational excellence.
