Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

Maintain all plant equipment and facilities as needed and as efficiently and timely as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Participates in the established maintenance plan and compliance with procedures for maintaining high standards of operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.?
• Repairs or replaces plant equipment or systems on a scheduled or emergency basis.? Assists with diagnosing and trouble-shooting maintenance related issues.
• Performs preventative maintenance activities as required.
• Communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
• Assists with new installations and other projects, as requested by the supervisor.
• Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs.? Works in a safe manner always.
• Knows and understands city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to maintenance and plant equipment, and works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are always met.
• Participates in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness. Follow all GMP requirements. Report any food safety or quality issues immediately to a supervisor or member of Quality Assurance.
• Assist all other employees and departments as required for efficient plant operation.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with operating menu-driven programs and a computer mouse.
• Must be willing to come in on call 24 hours a day. Must be willing to work overtime when needed (i.e. breakdown, maintenance shutdowns, and be flexible with work hours at these times).
• Valid Driver's License

The position is in a soy processing facility and could involve sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time throughout the day. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs. The employee is occasionally required to balance stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift, move, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, frequently lift, move, push, or pull up to 55 pounds, occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds, and occasionally push or pull more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
