Neel-Schaffer seeks responses from qualified applicants for the position of
CEI Inspector
to work on the West Alabama Highway Progressive Design – Build Project located in Demopolis (AL) and the surrounding area.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience on DOT-related projects, with an emphasis in bridge construction. The project involves widening existing highways and constructing new alignments for a new four-lane divided highway along the 74-mile route from Thomasville to Tuscaloosa, AL. The project includes construction of 23 new bridges, construction of over 100 box culverts, drainage improvements, utility relocation, and paving.
Responsibilities
- Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
- Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolving daily constructability issues, and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to the project's progress.
- Monitoring contractor's daily operations.
- Documenting pay records, performing construction calculations, and computer/iPad entry.
- Effectively communicating and coordinating work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing progress of the projects.
- Identify and report non-conformances to the Project Manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- ALDOT certifications or ability to obtain ALDOT certifications immediately.
- Eight years of experience in bridge construction.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
- Ability to pass a drug test,
- Must be able to perform moderate physical activity, including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
- If applicable to the position, a post-offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.
