Veterinary Technician

.We are looking for a Veterinary Technician or Technologist to join our team

Pennyrile Animal Clinic is a small animal clinic in Madisonville, KY. We serve the community by providing high quality medical and surgical care to our clients' dogs and cats. The Veterinary Technician assists the veterinarian and technicians with office visits and exams, takes care of the everyday needs of pets in the hospital ward and helps maintain the hospital facility, keeping it neat and clean.

Essential Functions:

• Provide compassionate care for pets
• Restrain pets for veterinarians and technicians
• Collect and monitor urine, blood, fecal samples as needed
• Assist in taking radiographs
• Monitor, record, and report physical signs of hospitalized pets
• Place IV catheters and assist with procedures
• Obtain histories and communicate with clients regarding their pets appointment
• Clean cages, runs, and hospital facilities, including: exam rooms, treatment room, isolation area, lab area, X-Ray room, employee lounge, and bathrooms
• Maintain treatment area, pharmacy, lab, and X-Ray areas in a neat and sanitary condition
• Provide clean bedding, water, and litter pans for pets
• Feed hospitalized pets as needed
• Retrieve pets that are being discharged
• Re-stock treatment, pharmacy, and lab area
• Laundry
• Wash and sanitize pet dishes
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
• Perform other duties as assigned

Coordination with Veterinary Staff

• Communicate clearly with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff regarding appointments, emergencies, and client concerns
• Prepare patient files, consent forms, and invoices before and after visits
• Help coordinate prescription pickups, lab test results, and medical records

Education:

• Highschool Diploma or equivalent (Required)
• Associate's degree (Prefered)
• Bachelor's degree (Preferred)

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs reguarly
• Comfortable around animals of all sizes and temperaments

Work Schedule:

• Full-time or part-time, including some evenings and weekends, depending on clinic hours

Monday through Friday business hours are 7:30 AM-5:30 PM. Saturday hours are 7:30 AM-12:00 PM.
