*Position Summary *
United Aviate Academy (UAA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines and a part of United's Aviate program. We provide flight training to prepare students for a safe and successful career as a pilot. Our students are our lifeline, and we need a team of Student Services Specialist to help guide and support our students during their training program. The Student Services Specialist will play a key role in supporting the academy's mission and growth. We are committed to our core4 values in all we do: safe, caring, dependable, and efficient.

As a Student Services Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and nurturing brand awareness while actively working with students for successful training outcomes. The role includes supporting the emotional and professional growth of students, developing and monitoring support programs, and providing educational and professional guidance. This multifaceted role requires a motivated individual with excellent communication skills, the ability to motivate and build a rapport with people, and to convey the Academy's vision, mission, and core4 values.

*Position Summary *
United Aviate Academy Student Services Specialist must deliver efficient, dependable, and high-caliber customer service to every person interacting with the Academy Services department with a strong level of social perceptiveness and the ability to make students feel safe and secure. These interactions include various administrative and customer service tasks crucial to the success of our academy in the areas of:

  • Student Support – inquiries, enrollment, and scheduling, ensuring a positive and seamless experience throughout their training journey, listening with empathy in an open and non-judgmental way
  • Administrative Support and Data Management – manage student records, enrollment materials, and administrative tasks while ensuring accuracy in student records, attendance, policies, and progress tracking
  • Event Coordination - plan and execute academy events, including orientation sessions, open houses, webinars/seminars, and engagement activities both on and off campus
  • Customer Service – provide exceptional customer service by assisting with conflict mediation, inquiries, addressing concerns, working closely with students to develop solutions and achievable goals, providing accurate information, and maintaining an escalation process
  • Collaboration - work closely with Certified Flight Instructors, administrative staff, the leadership team, and interns to ensure smooth operations of all activities, providing students with one-on-one guidance and professional development

*Duties/Responsibilities *
Brand Promotion:

  • Collaboration and creation of engaging content with the Marketing and Communications team for various social media platforms to highlight our academy, students, and brand identity
  • Organize and participate in promotional events, conferences, school presentations, and activities to attract potential students, advocates, and community partners
  • Develop and maintain relationships with professional pilot groups and close partner organizations

United Aviate Academy And Aviate Knowledge:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of our academy and the Aviate program to effectively communicate features and benefits to potential students while actively engaging with the Aviate team, vendors, and students to provide recommendations and drive new curated ways to promote longevity in the programs
  • A keen understanding of the Aviate partnerships and aviation opportunities for next-step discussions with students
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to exceed graduation objectives

Reporting And Feedback:

  • Provide regular updates on brand promotion, recruitment efforts, and student performance via trend analysis
  • Gather and analyze feedback from professional pilot groups, brand advocates, and recruits to help improve our partnerships and marketing strategies
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Student Services Specialist program

Student Support:

  • Meet with students monthly on academic progress and program success
  • Management of all student forms and daily reports
  • Support the planning and execution of academy events, such as seminars or workshops, and hosting on-campus and off-campus events
  • Collaborate with the academy services team on various tasks and projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

*Qualifications
Minimum Requirements *
United Aviate Academy Student Services Specialist must possess a strong ability to build and maintain relationships. The ability to foster an environment where collaboration and meeting student needs lead all decisions. The ability to work in an office environment where standing, sitting, and working odd hours (potential weekend work) is agreeable.

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or
  • Minimum of 2 years counseling, student support, or any other relevant field
  • Experience with counseling principles, techniques, and practices as applied to students' problems and developmental needs
  • Excellent communication, active listening, mediation, and people skills
  • Patient, friendly, and accommodating personality
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
  • Enthusiasm for the aviation industry and a commitment to exceptional customer service
  • A passion for our program and a deep understanding of our brand
  • Initiative-taking and enthusiastic collaborator
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 40lbs

*Essential Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors *

  • Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills and be able to interact with a wide variety of people
  • Must have the ability to articulate information clearly
  • Advanced computer skills (knowledge of MS Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting
  • Outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, valuing safety, and adhering to company policies

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position requires someone that can complete all of the essential functions and physical requirements of the job.
  • This position is located in an Airfield setting environment which includes loud noise and flashing lights
  • Must be able to walk frequently for throughout the 20-acre campus, conducting student tours to include walking up and down stairs in the first and second story dorm rooms
  • Frequently moves items weighing up to 50 pounds across the office for various Student Service's needs.
