Summary

Responsibilities'

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid license to practice in the US.
  • Proven leadership experience within a healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Strong knowledge of managed care, healthcare management, and regulatory standards.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of clinical research methodologies is a plus.
  • Prior experience supervising clinical staff is highly desirable.

Position Title

Medical Director (Contractual / 1099)

Practice

FJ Psychological Services (or successor entity)

Time Commitment

Approximately 5–20 hours per month (flexible, as agreed)

Position Summary

The Medical Director provides medical oversight, consultation, and compliance support for a multidisciplinary behavioral health practice, including psychological services, integrated care, and psychopharmacology-related activities. This role is non-operational and non-administrative, focused on clinical governance, risk management, and medical consultation.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO licensed and in good standing in Illinois
  • Board certified (Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related field)
  • Experience in outpatient behavioral health or integrated care settings
  • Familiarity with collaborative care models
  • Willingness to work in a consultative, non-controlling role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising NPs, PAs, or psychologists with psychopharmacology training
  • Knowledge of Illinois laws governing prescriptive authority
  • Experience with audits, payer inquiries, or clinical risk management

Core Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight

  • Review and approve medical protocols and clinical policies
  • Provide consultation on complex clinical or medical cases as requested
  • Participate in periodic chart reviews (e.g., 5–10% sampling, if applicable)

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure services align with Illinois scope-of-practice laws
  • Advise on medical risk, adverse events, or payer concerns
  • Support regulatory readiness (not day-to-day compliance)

Training & Consultation

  • Consult regarding psychopharmacology training or rotations (as applicable)
  • Participate in scheduled case consultation meetings (monthly/quarterly)

  • No authority over business operations, hiring, or termination
  • No requirement to provide direct patient care unless separately contracted

Compensation

  • Competitive, commensurate with experience
  • Typical range:
  • $150–$300/hour

Pay: $ $400.00 per year
