Deputy Lead Structural Engineer

Location: Houston / Project Office (with periodic site visits to Nigeria)

We are seeking a highly experienced Deputy Lead Structural Engineer to oversee structural engineering activities for a major deepwater offshore oil and gas development project. The role will focus on topside and subsea structural design, fabrication, installation, and integrity assurance. This position requires deep expertise in offshore structural systems and proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams across FEED, EPC, and execution phases.

• Lead and coordinate all structural engineering efforts for topsides and subsea infrastructure throughout project lifecycle.
• Provide technical direction to engineering contractors, ensuring design compliance with international codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
• Oversee structural design reviews, integrity assessments, and constructability analyses.
• Interface with fabrication yards and installation contractors to ensure structural deliverables meet schedule and quality expectations.
• Manage structural design risks and support resolution of technical queries.
• Review and approve engineering documentation including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Ensure seamless integration between structural, piping, mechanical, and marine disciplines.
• Drive compliance with HSSE, quality, and regulatory requirements across all structural scopes.
• Support project management with planning, budgeting, and progress reporting related to structural scope.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Minimum of 15 years experience in offshore structural engineering, including 5+ years in a lead role on deepwater projects.
• Expertise in API, AISC, ISO, and DNV structural codes and standards.
• Proven track record in delivering complex offshore developments from FEED through execution.
• Strong knowledge of topside modules, jackets, subsea structures, and load-out/transportation/installation methodologies.
• Proficiency in structural analysis tools such as SACS, STAAD.Pro, or similar.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Deepwater West African project experience.
• Exposure to FPSO or semi-submersible platforms.

Note: This role requires occasional travel to fabrication yards and offshore sites as dictated by the project schedule.
