We are seeking a Construction Superintendent - Mechanical / Piping to join our team supporting the Uranium Processing Facility This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
Support completion of UPF's Mechanical and Piping system(s).
Manage construction project activities with expertise with piping systems.
Exercise judgment related to appropriate mechanical/piping codes and standards.
Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
Assess needs and identifies craft training requirements and ensures craftsmen are trained to perform the work assigned.
Confirm correctness of charge codes and hours entered and approves craft time records using established automated tools.
Schedule work to be performed, and review work accomplished by each craft.
Manage work schedules within relations to the UPF overall execution plan and schedule.
Oversee all aspects of piping installation, fabrication, and testing on a project.
Manage crews, coordinate with other trades, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and maintain the project schedule.
Interpret blueprints, supervise subcontractors, conduct safety inspections, and resolve field issues to keep the project on time and budget.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma and 9+ years of relevant experience.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Must have a strong mechanical or piping execution background (as either a Construction Superintendent or Sr. Pipefitter).
Must have a working knowledge of design codes and standards.
Experience with DOE, DoD, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is preferred.
About the Site
The Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) is a construction project at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee that is intended to modernize and replace aging facilities for uranium operations. Once complete, UPF will support the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile, naval reactors, and defense nuclear nonproliferation while ensuring the long-term safety, security, and viability of enriched uranium capabilities in the United States.
