What to Expect
The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing fleet vehicles and Trailers, including semi-trucks, light- and medium-duty vehicles. This role supports fleet uptime through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical issues, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and in compliance with BIT/DOT standards. The position requires physical labor, use of hand/power tools, and the ability to work in various environments.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on semi-trucks, light-duty, and medium-duty fleet vehicles, Trailers ,Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural issues to minimize downtime
- Conduct BIT inspections, internal fleet audits, and support BIT/DOT vendor compliance reviews. Communicate repair needs, timelines, and critical issues with Supervisors and the fleet team
- Repair, patch, and replace tires as needed .Identify root causes of equipment failures and provide corrective/preventative recommendations
- Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, and aftertreatment systems
- Conduct routine services such as oil changes, tune-ups, brake adjustments, and component replacements
- Perform required inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Use electronic diagnostic tools to identify and resolve system faults
- Accurately document all inspections, maintenance, and repairs in the digital work order system
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience with fleet vehicles, trailers, and tow trucks, Car Hauler trailers and Trucks
- Knowledge of automotive systems (gas, diesel, hybrid, EV)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and on weekends as needed to complete projects, and willingness to travel to other locations to support inspections, repairs, and project work
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical positions
