Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under limited supervision and reporting to the Senior Director of Revenue and Compliance, the Revenue Analyst plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity of the University's philanthropic revenue process. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of a wide range of financial transactions within the constituent relationship management (CRM) system, ensuring strict adherence to institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and donor intent. With a high level of attention to detail and analytical acumen, the Revenue Analyst manages complex fiscal data—including cash, checks, credit cards, ACH, payroll deductions, in-kind gifts, securities, and planned giving commitments—balancing daily deposits and reconciling credit card statements with precision. This role demands a deep understanding of federal, state, IRS, and CASE guidelines, and requires the use of sophisticated, integrated systems to maintain accurate constituent records and financial documentation. By ensuring compliance and transparency, the Revenue Analyst contributes directly to the University's mission and donor trust, making this a critical and highly skilled position within the Revenue and Compliance team.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting practices, IRS regulations pertaining to charitable gift acceptance and a working knowledge of gift processing and data entry.
  • Familiarity with USC policies, procedures and systems or ability to learn. Understands the ramifications of IRS, FASB, CASE, PCI, FERPA, and NACUBO rules governing how the University processes and receipts donations and maintain records on individual constituents.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Fiscal and Revenue Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of fiscal operations related to revenue processing, including donor donations, and financial controls.

  • Familiarity with state government accounting practices and University financial policies and procedures.

  • Financial Analysis and Interpretation

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and classify complex financial transactions and reports.

  • Skilled in distinguishing between various revenue types and applying appropriate accounting treatment.

  • Regulatory and Policy Compliance

  • Working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations including IRS, FASB, PCI, FERPA, NACUBO, and CASE standards.

  • Ability to apply these guidelines to ensure compliance in revenue processing and receipting.

  • Technical Proficiency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, online financial platforms, and CRM/database management systems.

  • Experience with integrated financial systems and document management tools such as PaperSave.

  • Data Integrity and Confidentiality

  • Ability to maintain accurate constituent records and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality.

Revenue Analysis and Classification
Manages the analysis and accurate entry of revenue transactions in accordance with established procedures and financial controls. Evaluates incoming funds to determine appropriate classification—donation, grant, sponsorship, event revenue, or other—and ensures correct assignment to entities, funds, appeals, and recognition categories. Assists Senior Director to develop strategies and initiatives that strengthen the division's financial functions to ensure efficient use of the program resources while providing a high level of customer service.
