Position Title: Manufacturing Engineering Specialist Reports To: Plant Manager, Operations   Location: Mississauga Incumbent: None   About Paradigm Electronics:  Paradigm Electronics is a leading midsize manufacturing company based in Ontario, specializing in high-performance audio and home theater solutions. With a commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, Paradigm Electronics has been at the forefront of the consumer electronics industry for over four decades   Position Overview:  This is hybrid role with opportunity for advancement. The role will be responsible for both the optimal performance of manufacturing processes and technical reliability of equipment that supports them.     You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes. A core component of this role is the in-house design and procurement of production tools, jigs, and fixtures that improve operator ergonomics, ensure part quality, and reduce cycle times.
In addition, you will be responsible for planning, organizing and maintaining the daily maintenance checks of production and building equipment.  More specifically, you will plan and prioritize incoming work orders, establishing and implementing preventative maintenance and safety procedures while always adhering to established safety standards.   Key Responsibilities:
  • Work Order Management: Receive, prioritize, assign and follow-up on completion of maintenance requests via our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Vendor Relations: Source, vet, and coordinate with external contractors and service providers. Obtain quotes and ensure all work meets quality standards and safety codes.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Develop and oversee a rigorous PM schedule for HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, fork lifts and machinery to prevent costly breakdowns.
  • Inventory & Procurement: Monitor stock levels for essential spare parts and maintenance supplies. Order materials as needed while staying within the departmental budget.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure the facility remains in compliance with OSHA, fire codes, and local building regulations. Conduct regular safety walkthroughs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, and equipment warranties. Prepare monthly reports on maintenance costs and system performance.
  • Tooling & Fixture Design: Use CAD software to design custom assembly fixtures and Go/No-Go gauges.  Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for internal fabrication or external sourcing.
  • Line Layout & Integration: Design the physical arrangement of workstations. Integrate new tooling into existing lines and oversee "First Article" testing to validate tool performance.
  • DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Collaborate with the R&D team to review new product designs, ensuring they can be produced efficiently with current or proposed tooling.
  • Standard Work Documentation: Create clear Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that guide operators on the correct use of new fixtures and equipment.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead troubleshooting efforts when production yields drop. 
  Knowledge and Experience, Supervision, Authority: A) Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing of Industrial Engineering.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Good working knowledge in GD&T to ensure fixtures meet requirements.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Experience with CNC machining and manual assembly.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interact with everyone from executive leadership to specialized technicians.
  • Problem-Solving: A "hand-on" mentality with the ability to diagnose issues quickly and decide whether to fix them in-house or call a specialist.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Spatial Reasoning: Ability to visualize complex mechanical interactions to design fixtures that prevent "poka-yoke" (error-proofing) mistakes.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage a project from the initial concept/sketch through to the final installation on the production floor.
