Keyera Supply Chain has been on a transformational journey to mature its function towards supply chain excellence using key pillars of "people, process and technology" as the backbone. The Sr. Manager, SCM Strategy & Governance role reports to the Director, Supply Chain, as part of the core SCM Leadership Team alongside the senior leaders responsible for operations and projects SCM activities and will be pivotal to continuing the transformational work.
Powered by a substantial team of diverse supply chain professions with a rich mix of skill, experience and background, this individual will manage such areas of the department as category management, performance & data management, systems, processes & know-how, and reporting, all underpinned by strategy and governance. It is an exciting position requiring a well-rounded individual with deep understanding of all facets of supply chain, strong relationship and strategic influencing skills, proven success in supply chain digitalization and technology deployment, and conviction in transformational work in a dynamic environment ripe with change and opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy: Develop, recommend, and steward the multi-year SCM Strategic Plan and annual strategies for various SCM streams or aspects, both accountable for and not, such as Category, Value Creation, C&P Planning, and Technology. Ensuring ongoing strategic alignment with short and long-term objectives and priorities is critical. Innovation and collaboration both internally and externally are fundamental to success.
Governance: Own the current SCM governance system including policy, process, and procedure; seek to continuously improve so to sustain a fit-for-purpose system that allows the Supply Chain group and Business Unit stakeholder groups to easily understand the rules that govern how we work and how we measure / report compliance. This includes handling the SCM interface with Internal Audit and Contract Audit.
Data & performance management
- Own the Value Creation program, driving cost reduction / avoidance and operational efficiency / effectiveness, with accurate reporting that is impactful to the P&L
- Accountable for stewardship to the SCM budget and the annual budget process
- Responsible for maintaining, enhancing and providing accurate SCM reporting, data analytics and governance & performance metrics
- Manage the annual SCM Contract and Procurement (C&P) Plan in collaboration with Finance and Business Unit leadership
Systems & Technology
- Develop & steward to an SCM technology roadmap in collaboration with IT to build a better toolkit for SCM commercial professionals
- Be the SCM interface into the Source to Pay ("S2P") project as the key SCM business owner and member of the project management team responsible for implementing a fit for purpose S2P system that meets all SCM requirements and optimizes full S2P processes
- Identify and develop business cases for other SCM systems, with a focus on AI optionality to increase productivity
- Support Plains system integration and enhancements
Process
- Promote process streamlining, deploying such techniques as process debottlenecking, automation, business unit engagement, process design, and resourcing adjustments
- In conjunction with applicable stakeholders, provide management oversight of the supplier qualification process including ISNetworld, Indigenous Relations opportunities, technical capabilities assessment, AML/AVL, sustainability and ethical sourcing
- Develop and maintain best practices within the department and applicable playbooks, tools and templates to build a SCM "center of excellence" philosophy (ex. project execution and contracting models, contract compensation mechanisms, claims management, etc.)
- Foster cohesion and consistency across the department, both those directly in portfolio and other teams within SCM
- Significant involvement in Plains integration
Category Management
- Oversee category teams responsible for developing and executing category strategies including strategic sourcing for Directs and Indirects Category Spend in line with organizational objectives including value creation, supplier rationalization, and Master Service Agreement coverage; must achieve balance of cost optimization, risk management, supplier relationships, and strategic alignment to drive value and competitive advantage for the organization
- Deliver significant Value Creation results, driving cost reduction / avoidance and operational efficiency / effectiveness that is impactful to the Keyera P&L
- Build Supplier Relationship Management principles and embed strong Post Award Contract Management acumen into the function and department as a whole
- Collaboration with the associated Projects and Operations SCM leaders is a must
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 15 years of Supply Chain Management experience, with 10 years progressive leadership including that at a senior capacity managing a diverse group of Supply Chain Professionals
- MBA and/or an Accounting/Finance designation, and any industry certifications (e.g., SCMP, CPSM, CIPS) are assets
- Deep understanding of all facets of supply chain, from sourcing to procurement to contracting, materials mgmt. to logistics, and category to governance; strong understanding of associated inputs / outputs of the function (business development, finance, accounts payable, operations, etc)
- A technology focused individual with a broad understanding of supply chain digitalization including ERP systems and S2P systems (preference for those on the Gartner magic quadrant)
- Strong financial acumen so competent to own all SCM reporting, data analytics and governance & performance KPIs
- Recognized achievement in building and maintaining SCM programs (VC, C&P planning, KPI mgmt., etc)
- Proven results associated with data driven decision making
- Part of a leadership team in a transformative era, moving from low maturity to high
- Experience in building SCM strategies, frameworks, and best practices
- Involvement in a significant sized legal entity acquisition is an asset
