The Fractional CFO is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization on a fractional basis. This role involves strategic financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The Fractional CFO works closely with the CEO, executive team, and board of directors to ensure the company's financial health and to drive its financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's goals.
- Provide financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Advise on investment strategies, funding options, and financial risk management.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights and recommendations to the executive team.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legal requirements, and internal policies.
Budgeting and Cost Management:
- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and monitor their implementation.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Manage cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Liaise with investors, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
- Provide financial information and insights to support fundraising and investor relations.
- Represent the company in financial discussions and negotiations.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of finance staff.
- Promote continuous improvement and best practices within the finance function.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial management role.
- Experience in strategic financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience in the industry relevant to the company's operations is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees (MBA, CPA, CFA) or professional certifications are advantageous.
