We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and manufacturing client within the packaging and industrial automation sector. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a
Senior Electrical Design & Software Design Engineer
with strong PLC and control systems expertise. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-speed machinery projects from concept through to commissioning, with scope to lead technical aspects of multi-disciplinary engineering projects. Key Responsibilities
Electrical design of automated machinery control systems PLC software development using
Rockwell (Allen-Bradley)
and
Beckhoff (TwinCAT) Control system safety analysis using
Sistema Ensure compliance with
CE marking, NEC, CSA, and UL standards In-house commissioning and occasional on-site commissioning (UK & overseas) Collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams Technical leadership on projects involving multiple engineering disciplines Evaluation and implementation of new automation and control technologies Continuous improvement of machine performance, reliability, and safety Skills & Experience Required
HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline Strong experience in electrical design and PLC software development Hands‑on experience with
Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs Hands‑on experience with
Beckhoff / TwinCAT PLC systems Background in
packaging machinery, automation, or special‑purpose machinery Knowledge of
functional safety , risk assessment, and
Sistema Understanding of
CE, UL, CSA, and NEC
compliance Ability to work independently and lead technical elements of projects Strong fault‑finding, problem‑solving, and commissioning capability Excellent communication skills and customer‑facing experience Willingness to travel occasionally (UK & international) Benefits Package
