Transportation Planner Parrish & Heimbecker Join our team that shares your Passion & Heart for Canadian agriculture Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Transportation Planner for our Milling division based in Hamilton, ON. P&H Milling P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.
From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries. - Scheduling bulk deliveries daily, addressing and resolving shipment issues
- Manage tendering loads to 3PL carriers, monitor and manage accessorial charges
- Collaborate with other internal and external departments and work within tight deadlines set by Customer Service and the Flour Mills.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Planner and arrange truck and tanker drop offs for repairs, maintenance and internal/external washes.
- Payroll activities for all company drivers.
- Manage 3PL Carrier performance
- 5 Years or Greater Experience in Planning/Dispatching Local Drivers, Load Planning.
- Experience with Pneumatic multi-axle tankers, rail tankers as well as domestic intermodal deliveries would be considered assets.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Intermodal Rail experience as well as Bulk rail experience would and asset.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) Descartes experience would be beneficial, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.
- Working knowledge of Commercial Transportation legal regulations, Ontario Highway Traffic act and HOS requirements.
- Descartes TMS knowledge
- Samsara Fleet Management knowledge
- Ability to independently handle multiple projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiating and customer service skills.
