Overview
We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing excellent customer service, a strong understanding of retail sales processes, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse customers. This role involves engaging with shoppers, demonstrating products, and ensuring an inviting shopping environment. Prior experience in grocery stores or retail environments is a plus. Bilingual skills are highly valued to assist our diverse customer base. The Sales Associate will play a key role in maintaining store presentation, managing stock, and upselling products to enhance sales performance.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional customer service throughout their shopping experience
- Operate POS systems efficiently for sales transactions, cash handling, and receipts
- Conduct product demonstrations and educate customers on features and benefits of merchandise
- Assist with merchandising, stocking shelves, and maintaining attractive product displays
- Perform cashier duties including cashiering, basic math calculations, and handling returns or exchanges
- Upsell products by identifying customer needs and recommending additional items to increase sales
- Maintain proper phone etiquette when assisting customers via phone or online inquiries
- Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock replenishment
- Ensure the store environment is clean, organized, and welcoming at all times
- Supervise or assist in supervising team members when needed, fostering a collaborative work environment
Experience
- Previous retail sales experience preferred; experience in grocery stores or similar environments is advantageous
- Familiarity with POS systems and cashiering procedures
- Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities to serve diverse customers effectively
- Experience in product demos, upselling techniques, merchandising, and stock management is beneficial
- Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately and performing retail math calculations
- Customer service experience emphasizing friendly interaction and problem-solving skills
- Supervising experience is a plus but not required; leadership qualities are appreciated for team support roles
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 42 per week
