Responsibilities
Manage engineering design interfaces across major HVDC packages, including civils, AC systems and cables, ensuring smooth collaboration between all parties.
Take ownership of the Design Interface Registers, working closely with contractors to align inputs, resolve design issues early and keep project data accurate and up to date.
Manage the design submittals process using Autodesk Construction Cloud, ensuring submissions are high‑quality, traceable and delivered on time.
Act as a key link between SSEN teams and external partners, keeping everyone informed with clear updates on interface risks, progress and next steps.
Champion a positive safety culture and support compliance with CDM regulations and SSEN's engineering standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Support the development of interface management awareness across the project, helping colleagues identify and manage design and quality risks effectively.
Qualifications
A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably electrical, mechanical or civil). Chartered status or working toward it is desirable.
5–7 years’ experience in project engineering or design coordination, ideally with exposure to complex, multi‑disciplinary projects.
Proven ability to manage interfaces between teams, contractors and disciplines, with a track record of identifying interface risks early and implementing appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Experience supporting or leading elements of multi‑disciplinary design coordination, with a good understanding of how design, construction and programme interdependencies are managed.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear language for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar tools for managing design submissions, interface registers and structured workflows.
