Veterinary Assistant – Full Time

Healthier Pet Veterinary Care is a modern, family-owned small animal clinic in Santa Ana, CA. Our practice blends traditional veterinary medicine with integrative, low-stress handling approaches. As we grow, we are searching for a reliable and experienced Veterinary Assistant who can step in confidently and support our medical team from day one.

About the Position

This role is ideal for a candidate who already has solid technical skills, is comfortable with the daily workflow of a small animal practice, and takes pride in delivering excellent patient care.

We are not a training hospital for beginners — we are looking for someone who already knows the essentials and is eager to contribute immediately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarian during exams, treatments, surgeries, and dentals
• Provide safe handling and low-stress restraint for dogs and cats
• Perform venipuncture, blood draws, sample collection, medication administration
• Support anesthesia monitoring and surgical preparation
• Run in-house diagnostics & process laboratory samples
• Assist with radiographs: proper positioning and safety
• Prepare surgical packs and maintain sterile workflow
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
• Help maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work environment

What We're Looking For

We are specifically seeking someone who brings existing skills and consistency:

Required:

• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Vet Tech
• Proficiency in restraint, venipuncture, radiology assistance, and lab work
• Ability to follow established protocols and support the team immediately
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• A positive, reliable, team-oriented attitude

Preferred:

• Stable work history — we value applicants who seek long-term positions, not short-term job hopping.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Familiarity with Fear Free or low-stress handling
