We are seeking a proactive and resourceful
Technical Operations Specialist
to support the day-to-day delivery of IT services for our client, an e-commerce company with 24x7x365 operations across infrastructure, applications, and user environments. This position acts as the bridge between end-user support and senior IT leadership, ensuring business continuity, smooth operations, and clear communication across teams. The Technical Operations Specialist role combines strong technical expertise with an understanding of business priorities, enabling the maintenance of stability, performance, and compliance across the organization's technology platforms. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical capability and operational leadership, ensuring continuity across multiple facilities and cloud environments. The Technical Operations Specialist will be a critical part of our client's team, helping to maintain their IT infrastructure and ensuring seamless operations.

Salary/Hourly Rate
$90k - $115k, Depending on experience.

Position Overview
Our client is excited to welcome a skilled Technical Operations Specialist to their team to help them maintain their IT infrastructure and ensure smooth operations across their platforms. The ideal candidate will be a proactive Technical Operations Specialist who is ready to tackle the challenges of a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities Of The Technical Operations Specialist

  • Support day-to-day IT operations, ensuring systems, networks, and applications function efficiently across all departments.
  • Provide on-site support for warehouse technologies, including networked devices, scanners, label printers, and workstations.
  • Serve as the first escalation point for complex support issues, coordinating resolution with specialized engineers or external partners when needed.
  • Assist with maintaining uptime and performance for critical systems, including Microsoft 365, networking, and core business platforms.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Support onboarding/offboarding activities to ensure smooth transitions and data security.
  • Maintain and improve IT procedures, documentation, and knowledge base materials.
  • Track recurring issues, identify trends, and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with leadership on infrastructure and security initiatives by providing administrative, coordination, and technical support.
  • Communicate system changes, outages, or updates to end-users in clear, non-technical language.
  • Participate in project rollouts (hardware refreshes, cloud migrations, software updates) as part of the larger IT operations roadmap.
  • Monitor system alerts and dashboards to identify early signs of issues.
  • Provide initial investigation and triage for security or performance incidents before escalating.
  • Support business continuity activities, including backup validation and basic recovery procedures.
  • Participate in scheduled project work, occasionally outside standard business hours, to minimize operational disruption.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure the timely delivery of projects and the resolution of incidents.

Required Experience/Skills for the Technical Operations Specialist:

  • 5+ years in an IT support, systems, or operations role.
  • Familiarity with Windows, macOS, Linux, and cloud environments (Microsoft 365, Azure).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into business impact.
  • Experience in maintaining ticket queues and documenting incidents or changes.
  • Understanding of networking, security awareness, and general IT best practices.
  • Proven experience managing IT operations across multiple physical and cloud environments.
  • Ability to operate independently while maintaining alignment with organizational and leadership priorities.
  • Experience in several of the following technologies is required:

  • Support & Tools: VEEAM, Zendesk, Atera, Jira.

  • Applications & Databases: MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, NGINX, SharePoint, Creative Cloud.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS RDS, VMware, VXRail, Ubuntu, Microsoft Operating Systems, Mac, AMS.
  • Networking & Security: Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Darktrace, CrowdStrike, Cloudflare CDN, DNS, and Warp.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Technical Operations Specialist:

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware or VxRail).
  • Awareness of cybersecurity tools (CrowdStrike, Darktrace) and compliance frameworks (PCI, SOC2).
  • Experience supporting ERP or warehouse management systems (e.g., Manhattan WMS) and integrating them with corporate IT systems.
  • Experience in completing cybersecurity documentation, completing external cybersecurity audits, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

Education Requirements:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ and Security+, Microsoft 365 Administrator, or ITIL Foundation are required.
