Responsibilities:Instruction & Assessment

  • Prepare students for IREAD and other standardized assessments through focused skill-building and ongoing practice.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the Science of Reading and implement the UFLI curriculum with fidelity.
  • Provide clear learning goals and objectives, along with rubrics, to help students track their progress.
  • Structure lessons to maximize learning time and ensure all content is delivered clearly, cohesively, and within allotted time.
  • Help students interact with new information by identifying key ideas, chunking concepts, elaborating on learning, and recording knowledge.
  • Support students in practicing and deepening new skills through guided and independent practice.
  • Challenge students at their individual ability levels, guiding them through higher-order thinking tasks.
  • Communicate high expectations for all students, including those who may need additional support.
  • Create or select evaluation tools that align with lesson goals and meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Plan and prepare lessons and units using scaffolding, appropriate resources, and available technology.
  • Provide targeted interventions for students who need additional academic support.

Classroom Management & Environment

  • Establish clear classroom rules and procedures through consistent routines and modeling.
  • Maintain excellent classroom management using proactive strategies and positive reinforcement.
  • Recognize adherence to rules with positive feedback and apply fair, consistent consequences when needed.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students through objectivity, empathy, and appropriate verbal and nonverbal communication.
  • Engage students by maintaining a lively pace, incorporating movement, and demonstrating enthusiasm.
  • Create a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that supports learning for all students.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Perform additional teaching and non-teaching duties such as morning duty, lunch duty, and dismissal duty.
  • Work independently with strong organizational skills, while also collaborating effectively with colleagues and staff.
  • Plan and prepare to meet the needs of students who may lack academic support at home.
  • Use traditional resources and new technologies to enhance instruction and student engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably 2nd grade.
  • Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading and experience using UFLI.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare students for standardized tests, including IREAD.
  • Excellent classroom management and the ability to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Ability to work independently, manage responsibilities, and maintain high professional standards.

Pay: $3, $4,500.00 per month
