GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Physical Therapist will provide direct patient care in a fast paced, evidence based outpatient setting to restore functional level of those impaired by physical injury or illness, muscular skeletal and neurological deficits impairing functional levels. Therapist are responsible for providing comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Therapist will assist patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Physical Therapist will document pertinent information; communicate with staff, physicians, case managers, patients and families; participate in educational activities; and support departmental operations. Will be part of a team serving residents of Jefferson County with quality healthcare, regardless of the ability to pay.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Conduct evaluation of patients with medical, neurological, musculoskeletal/orthopedic, and vascular impairments.
• Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of musculoskeletal/orthopedic, neurological and vascular impairments causing dysfunctionality in strength, mobility gait and balance.
• Patient treatment plans will be focused on providing exercise programs to improve patient's overall strength, range of motion, and endurance levels. Improve mobility, gait and balance; using physical agents and modalities as appropriate for pain and swelling.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including, but not limited to, physical therapist assistants, physicians, occupational therapists, and rehab techs, to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Select and develop individualized treatment plans to help patients achieve an optimal level of functional independence, mobility, increased independence, and quality of life.
• Educating patients and family members on recovery processes, exercises and safety.
• Open lines of communication with all healthcare providers involved including other therapists, physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, students, and any other professional employees applicable to the patient's care.
• Observe and reassess patients progress on a consistent continued basis for effectiveness of treatments administered
• Maintain professional knowledge in accordance with APTA standards in order to provide patients with the best and most current treatment available
• Maintain quality accurate documentation within an EMR to include for patient charges.
• Maintain accountability for cost-effective management in clinic, i.e., documentation of supply use, and equipment needs.
• Maintain departmental equipment's cleanliness and safely
• Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of physical therapy.
• Work experience may not substitute for education requirement.
• Currently licensed and registered as a Physical Therapist (PT) or (RPT) by the State of Alabama Board of Physical Therapy.
• Current CPR/BLS certification via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Preferred:
• Master's degree in Physical Therapy required.
• Experience with electronic medical records system: NextGen
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
The work location for this role is onsite.
