Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working a grill, prepping food and restaurant management, with proven leadership and team management skills. This role involves overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and safety standards, and supporting menu planning and food production. The Sous Chef will play a key role in maintaining high standards of culinary excellence while managing daily kitchen activities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality food service.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, stock rotation, and minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards across the kitchen.
- Lead menu planning efforts, incorporating dietary restrictions and catering needs for various events.
- Oversee food handling procedures to guarantee proper hygiene and safety protocols are followed.
- Support shift management by coordinating staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours.
- Assist with training new team members and fostering a positive team environment.
- Collaborate with the dietary department to develop specialized menus as needed for health-conscious or dietary-specific requests.
- Participate in food service management tasks such as catering, banquet events, and fine dining service execution.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fine dining, banquet service, or restaurant management with a focus on culinary excellence.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervising or team management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of food production, preparation, and presentation techniques.
- Experience in inventory management, inventory control, and food handling procedures.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations within the hospitality industry.
- Ability to manage shift operations efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in menu planning and kitchen management.
- Background in culinary arts or hospitality management is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
