As the Specialty Technician Supervisor in North Haven, you'll oversee a dedicated group of technicians, ensuring smooth operations, fostering professional growth, and maintaining the highest standards of veterinary excellence. Role Overview

The Specialty Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all Specialty Technicians in the North Haven location. This role ensures high-quality patient care by managing staffing, training, and workflow. The supervisor fosters professional growth, motivates team members, and enforces hospital policies while maintaining a collaborative, engaging, and supportive work environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Expertise & Operational Support: Serve as a high-level technician across all departments; assist in organizing hospital spaces, reducing clutter, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Staffing & Workforce Management: Lead interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and scheduling of specialty technicians in consideration of hospital budgets; manage time-off requests, holiday coverage, payroll submissions, and respond to and manage call-outs to ensure uninterrupted exceptional patient care.
  • Training, Development & Performance Management: Support staff training and mentoring, conduct performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and motivate team members to achieve excellence.
  • Leadership & Team Culture: Organize and lead staff meetings and daily workflows; foster morale, engagement, and a positive workplace culture aligned with hospital values.
  • Policy & Collaboration: Implement and enforce hospital policies, maintain documentation of coaching and disciplinary actions, collaborate with other managers, and attend supervisor meetings.
  • Communication & Conflict Resolution: Maintain open dialogue with the Staff Director and Medical Director, address employee concerns, and mediate conflicts effectively.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • At least 5 years of veterinary technician experience required; CVT or VTS certification preferred.
  • Strong managerial and supervisory skills with exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead with humility, honesty, and fairness, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Skilled in advanced technical procedures and clinical decision-making
  • Collaborative team player with strong emotional intelligence and excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Committed to patient safety, technician development, and continuous learning
