Akiak Technology is seeking a Solutions Architect with a strong background in modern software engineering and cloud architecture to lead implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performing digital solutions for our federal clients. This role is ideal for a candidate who combines deep technical knowledge with strong leadership, communication, and client engagement skills. You will validate the technical strategy and architecture to deliver innovative and mission-critical solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements to validate scalable, persistent solution architectures.
- Lead technical assessments, and decision-making for systems involving SaaS, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.
- Design secure and scalable systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP, leveraging services like EC2, ECS, Lambda, Kubernetes, and S3.
- Define and document architecture standards, best practices, and technical strategies for development teams.
- Oversee the integration of legacy systems with modern platforms, ensuring secure and efficient data exchange and system interoperability.
- Partner with DevOps teams to define and implement CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab.
- Ensure compliance with relevant federal standards such as 508 Compliance, FedRAMP, CMMC, and enterprise security policies.
- Provide technical leadership during solution implementation, troubleshooting complex issues and ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a solutions architecture role.
- US citizenship with a Public Trust clearance required
- BS Degree required
- Proven experience designing and deploying enterprise solutions in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, , .NET Core, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in RESTful APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture patterns.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity design and implementation, including secure coding practices and SSO.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, DevSecOps, test automation, performance optimization, and agile methodologies.
- Experience with federal IT systems and navigating compliance requirements like FedRAMP or CMMC is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect Certification – Associate or Professional
Preferred Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Scaled Agile (SPC 5.0)
- ITIL v4 Foundation
Supervisory Controls:
This position reports directly to the Director, Artificial Intelligence Solutions who provides administrative direction. Supervisor oversight includes:
Supervisory: This position is considered supervisory and requires at least 25% of the positions' time to oversee the work of subordinates. The employee works independently with completed tasks in accordance to goals and objectives.
Non-Supervisory (Technical): This position works in Agile cross-functional teams where tasks are assigned collaboratively, or through project schedules.
Non-Supervisory (General): This position works in an environment that includes supervisory oversight of general assignments.
Teleworking: The company has a hybrid remote policy for all employees and is dependent upon the type of position. This position may be assigned to support a federal contract, or to work in office. The Company's teleworking eligibility may not apply if the employee is supporting a federal services contract. In this instance, the employee may be subject to federal telework policies and may be required to work onsite in the federal facility when requested.
Position Sensitivity and Risk Designation: Moderate Risk
The position may support federal or state contracts. When required, the employee must at least go through a basic background check that can yield a public trust designation to make sure you are reliable, trustworthy, and suitable for the job. A moderate risk
position is likely to produce a fair amount of harm or serious damage to the public's trust. The agency with whom the contract is with, will ask you for the necessary personal information to start the background investigation process. The amount of information you'll need to give depends on the contract award. Following the investigation, the agency will make their trustworthiness determination.
