Hours & Flexibility
This role requires a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. The schedule will involve fluctuating hours based on our catering bookings. Events can be scheduled and require immediate staffing with as little as 24 to 48 hours' notice, meaning the catering team must be highly flexible to ensure our operations run smoothly. For those seeking additional work, there is room for supplemental hours assisting the restaurant side of the business outside of catering commitments.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble a variety of dishes in accordance with event menus, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
- Handle all aspects of food preparation, including chopping, cooking, plating, and garnishing to create visually appealing meals.
- Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards throughout all stages of food handling and service.
- Set up catering stations with appropriate utensils, serving dishes, and decorations to enhance the dining experience.
- Serve food efficiently and courteously to guests during events, ensuring timely delivery and proper portioning.
- Manage kitchen operations during events, including replenishing supplies and maintaining cleanliness.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and catering supplies, placing orders as needed.
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with health regulations and safety protocols at all times.
Experience & Qualifications
Candidates should possess prior experience in the food industry with a focus on catering or fine dining settings. A background in restaurant or kitchen environments that involve menu planning, food preparation, cooking techniques, and food service will be advantageous.
- Essential Skills: Strong knife skills, proficiency in meal preparation, and a solid understanding of food safety practices are essential.
- Background: Previous roles involving food handling, culinary experience in the hospitality sector, or working within the food industry will prepare you for success in this role.
- Service Focus: Excellent communication skills for serving guests courteously and efficiently are also important. Candidates with experience in catering events or restaurant settings that emphasize high-quality service will thrive here.
- Flexibility Requirement: Given the nature of catering and fluctuating hours, reliable personal transportation is strongly preferred.
