Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to person-centered care, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse populations in various care settings. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other developmental disabilities
- Utilize patient observation techniques to monitor health status and report any concerns promptly
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers to ensure resident safety
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing light housekeeping duties as needed
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and well-being
- Document care activities accurately while respecting privacy and confidentiality standards
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to deliver comprehensive support
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living, home health, hospice care, or long-term care environments preferred
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, and basic nursing skills such as CPR and First Aid certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or other special needs highly desirable
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards essential
- Previous roles involving caregiving for seniors or individuals requiring memory care or hospice services are advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and work effectively in fast-paced environments requiring patience and compassion
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with residents and their families
