Southwest Industrial Rigging is looking for a Safety Manager to join our team. The Safety Manager will ensure compliance with all local, state and federal OSHA regulations, along with company and customer safety policies and requirements. The Safety Manager is our hands-on safety team member ensuring the safety and well-being of not only our employees but everyone on our job sites.

Specialized Knowledge Certificates & Licenses

· ABS/BA or similar in Construction Management, Construction Safety or engineering

· 7 years of experience as a Construction Safety director or manager

· Certified by National Association of Safety Professionals as a Certified Safety Manager

· OSHA 10

· OSHA 30

· OSHA 500

· OSHA 510

· OSHA Certified and ability to be OSHA trainer.

· MSHA Certified and ability to be MSHA trainer.

· The following are recommended:

· OSHA 7500

· OSHA 7505

· OSHA 521

· OSHA 3085

· OSHA 7105 especially for the complex

· OSHA 7205

· OSHA 7405 or 3115 Fall Hazard/Protection

· First Aid/CPR Certified

The desired candidate should have a thorough knowledge of heavy equipment and project-related hazards. The subjects include:

· Understanding Construction and Mine Workplace Safety

· Training Methodology for CRT and MSHA

· Chemical Safety and HAZCOM

· Confined Space Entry

· Personal Protective Equipment

· Walking-Working Surfaces and Fall Protection especially with OSHA 1926

· Scaffolding

· Electrical Safety

· Hand and Powered Tools

· Crane Derrick Safety including NCCCO certificates as Lift director, rigging, (1&2), forklift, crane (all) as well as FMI certificates

· Aerial Scissor or Man Lift including tie off

· Trenching and Excavation

· Welding, Cutting and Brazing

· Silica Dust

· Concrete and Steel Erection Safety

· Construction Violence

The following are suggested but are not required:

· Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

· Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

· Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)

· Safety Management Specialist (SMS)

· Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)

· Licensed Safety Professional (LSP)

· Specialized certifications for CRT

· Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)

Expectations of Safety Compliance Manager:

· Understand the primary, OSHA-mandated topics to keep workplaces safer.

· Document, investigate and analyze accidents with Risk Manager when they happen, including finding root causes.

· Maintain SWIR back to work initiatives and suggest improvements

· Receive the tools and knowledge required of a construction manager or safety expert.

· Discover methodologies you can use to train employees effectively and transform the way they treat safety in the workplace.

· Develop safety management programs for the CRT and MSHA.

· Avoid and coordinate Legal or Risk Manager issues related to workplace injuries or accidents.

· Interpret and apply OSHA regulations correctly.

· Document and analyze potential hazards in the workplace.

· Manage regular audits with Risk Manager and inspections to ensure everything is up to standard.

· Create an environment where everyone values safety by using proven methods to change behaviors positively.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts safety orientation for all new hire employees, ensuring that all new hires are educated and trained, prior to going on site.
  • Conducts safety audits within company facilities and job sites, documents audits, and is part of the solution for corrective actions; Maintains safety compliance within OSHA, Company & Customer standards.
  • Trains employees on site specific hazards, fall protection, aerial lifts and conducts safety meetings at job sites as required.
  • Maintains current and accurate SDS file for all materials on site, ensuring OSHA compliance.
  • Maintain and submit all safety related documentation.
  • Provides technical assistance to supervision on safety related matters (such as new equipment, procedures, etc.).
  • Spreader bar, man basket, and below the hook inspections.
  • Conducts accident and near-miss investigations while generating accident reports as necessary to appropriate company leaders.
  • Assist contract officer(s) in reviewing and meeting customer contract standards and compliance.
  • Attend and review daily pre-task assignments to reflect work being performed.
  • Maintain a positive pro-active relationship with employees, supervision, and customers.
  • Provide training to employees; Conduct OSHA 10 & 30 hour training, as needed.
  • Prepare and present monthly safety meetings.
  • Attend all safety meetings as required by customers.
  • Perform safety equipment inventory and assist with ordering safety supplies.
  • Third party contractor review, maintain; ERail Safe, ISN, Avetta

Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000 /Annually
