driver - per diem

Overview
We are seeking a dependable and experienced PER DIEM DRIVER to support various transportation needs. This role involves operating a range of commercial vehicles on an as-needed basis, providing flexible driving support for different departments and projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, mechanical knowledge, and excellent communication abilities to ensure safe and efficient transportation services.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles including box trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks, limousines, school buses, tractor-trailers, and other heavy equipment as required.
• Load and unload cargo using appropriate tools such as pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary.
• Transport goods, equipment, or passengers to designated locations following assigned routes or schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of trips, deliveries, or pickups.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members regarding schedules, delays, or issues encountered during routes.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic laws to ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and other road users.
• Assist with moving tasks or warehouse support when required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in commercial driving, shuttle driving, delivery driving, or related fields such as school bus driving or route driving.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and basic vehicle maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to operate manual transmissions and heavy equipment such as forklifts or tanker trucks is a plus.
• Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members and dispatchers.
• Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., CDL for tractor-trailers or heavy haul).
• Experience with load & unload procedures using pallet jacks or forklifts.
• Familiarity with different vehicle types including freight trucks, limousines, tow trucks, yard jockeys, and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to work independently on an as-needed basis with flexibility for varying schedules. This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers seeking flexible per diem work supporting diverse transportation needs across multiple industries.
