Engineer 2 – Data Engineering

Overview:

We are seeking an Engineer 2 to join a technical team responsible for maintaining and securing critical customer profile data and making it accessible to internal systems and approved external partners. This team supports a suite of modern applications and services built with technologies such as RESTful APIs, cloud platforms, front-end frameworks, and enterprise databases.

In this hybrid role, the Engineer 2 will blend data engineering and software development to build scalable, high-performance systems that support data-driven capabilities. This includes evaluating technical solutions, gathering requirements, conducting testing and research, and recommending enhancements that increase system quality, reliability, and effectiveness. The ideal candidate acts as a subject matter expert, representing the team on complex assignments while delivering solutions that align with user needs and business objectives.

Key responsibilities include incorporating security and compliance into all decisions, designing and managing complex data models, architecting database schemas, supporting large-scale data initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to translate requirements into long-term technical solutions. This role also participates in on-call or release management rotations as needed.

Required:

• Must reside in the United States (does not include Alaska or Hawaii)
• Must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours.
• Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities.
• Must have 3 or more years of experience in Data Model design.
• Must have 3 or more years of experience writing and tuning complex SQLs, and the ability to analyze and make recommendations on results.
• Must have good oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with various IT teams and business representatives.
• Must be able to both collaborate in a team-oriented environment and work independently with direction.
• Strong Data Analysis skills and Strong Data Modeling skills.
• Teradata experience, bonus for familiarity with Teradata Data Definition Language(DDL) table create statements
• Working knowledge of data modeling and modeling methodologies.
• Experience in Data Software Engineering, preferably Java
• Expertise with Big data technologies, Business Intelligence and data warehousing development technologies.
• Experience with Oracle SQL

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
• Java development experience
• Experience with Big Data solutions and no SQL DBMSs
• Experience with?Azure, AWS, or other Public Cloud environments
• Prior experience with EHI IT rental or vehicle domain knowledge (preferred, not required)
• Experience with configuration management and build automation capabilities such as Git/Jenkins.
• Experience with API development
• Knowledge and working experience with Agile methodologies
