The Electronic Technician performs testing & troubleshooting on electronic and electrical components to determine functioning level and capability.

Essential Functions

  • Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry/components.
  • Diagnoses & tests malfunctioning apparatus using test equipment.
  • Mines data from manufacturer websites and works to discover innovative solutions to problems.
  • Capable of soldering SMD devices, troubleshooting to the components level repair.
  • Mechanically inclined for troubleshooting, disassembling, and effectively reassemble electro-mechanical devices such as phones, tablets, and other handheld devices with minimum supervision.
  • Replace and/or upgrade internal hardware components.
  • Must be capable, and comfortable with operating various PC base test programs, documenting repairs, and utilizing our database to log his/her work.
  • Must be organized and detailed oriented.
  • Fully refurbish pre-owned mobile devices and equipment for reuse.
  • Must be a problem solver and have a positive approach to every challenge.
  • Install operating systems and software.
  • Maintain and update of our service management systems used in creating service request orders.
  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events, specific projects, or program changes.
  • Employee may be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by their supervisor.

Qualifications

  • 2-year (or greater) degree in Electronics, Computer Technology, or Electrical Maintenance plus 2 to 5 years of practical experience OR high school equivalency plus at least 5 years of practical experience.
  • Experience with electronic testing equipment: bench power supply, oscilloscope, voltmeter, caliper, dial indicator, micrometer.
  • Ability to recognize failure trends.
  • Applies principles and practical experience to solve moderately complex problems; occasionally involving innovation or experimentation.
  • Ability to take and pass a background check.

Performance Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to solder (surface mount and through-hole), familiarity with BGA reflow machines a plus.
  • Prior experience completing board-level repairs.
  • Successful candidates are resourceful individuals who will always be looking for opportunities to make processes more efficient.
  • Expertise with Operating Systems – knowledge of installing, deleting, and creating partitions.
  • Ability to cooperate with others to give and receive information both verbally and in writing / via email.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and work independently as needed.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance to the satisfaction of management.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other position related technologies.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Must be able to clearly and confidentially communicate with TruWest employees and other stakeholders.
  • Must adhere to all TruWest Values at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to access work locations.
  • Must be able to stoop, stand, walk, bend, and stay upright to perform work.
  • Must be able to visually read written and digital information.
  • Must be able to visually determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned and/or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds occasionally, and 25 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
