Position Summary

The Plumber is responsible for performing plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work across all district facilities. This position ensures that plumbing systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes to support a healthy and functional learning environment for students and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, fixtures, valves, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing issues and diagnose root causes using appropriate tools and testing methods.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on plumbing infrastructure, boilers, pumps, water heaters, backflow devices, and restroom facilities.
  • Repair or replace pipes, faucets, toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, water heaters, and other fixtures as required.
  • Inspect equipment and systems to ensure compliance with state and local plumbing codes, district standards, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with custodial and maintenance staff to respond to work orders and emergency repairs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system conditions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Operate district vehicles, hand tools, power tools, and specialty plumbing equipment safely.
  • Assist with planning and estimating materials, costs, and timelines for plumbing projects.
  • Participate in snow removal, emergency response, and other districtwide maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all district safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of plumbing experience, preferably in commercial or institutional settings.
  • Strong knowledge of standard plumbing practices, tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Understanding of applicable building and plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Ability to identify plumbing issues quickly and implement effective solutions.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to safely operate specialized plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Boiler operation/maintenance experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic HVAC and general building maintenance
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders for extended period and work in confined spaces and elevated areas.

Pay: $21.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
