The Core Systems Administrator I is responsible for executing, monitoring, and reporting the results associated with the multi-system computer operations environment at the Credit Union. This includes but is not limited to the Core Processing System, Enterprise Imaging, and various 3rd party vendor interfaces to/from the Core Processing System. In addition, this role works with the IT Management and the Project Management Office to analyze root causes in the event of processing defects or critical system outages that affect uptime Service Level Agreements.
1) Batch Processing / Daily Operations (40%)
- Monitor the Core Systems batch processing schedule in a complex, multi-system environment and verify processes are properly functioning and correctly balance.
- Make modifications to the Core System job schedule -- daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly processing -- as required by the credit union processing schedules.
- Ensure daily system backup reports are generated and available for review each morning
- Present issues or outages at the 9am Daily IT Operations meeting
- Interface with 3rd party vendors for technical support (as needed)
- Production Support (30%)
- Provide "On Call" support as part of the Core Systems Operations support team
- Analyze current operational procedures, system capabilities, workflows, and scheduling limitations to identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and implement solutions
- Maintain incident response / outage documentation in accordance with department policies, procedures, and practices.
- Load software patches, service packs, and annual releases when necessary
- Application and Parameter Table Maintenance (20%)
- Perform Rates Changes in accordance with decisions made by the ALMT committee
- Perform Parameter Table Changes for approved maintenance requests (e.g. Console additions, User Template changes, etc.)
- Configure and test 3rd party applications / peripherals in support of end-user business integration needs (e.g. CFM norm devices, Cummins coin machines, TWS check imaging machines, etc.)
- Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
- Participate in the annual Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity testing activities, and provide results for the documentation needed to meet regulatory reporting needs
- Adhere to IT Change Control procedures to ensure auditability for any changes made
- Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated.
Required Skills
This position must possess or show the inclination to learn basic knowledge, skills, and abilities of IT principles, methods, and practices to include:
- A 2-year technical degree or 3 years of experience with Computer Operations in a financial services environment; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- IT systems security principles and methods; performance monitoring principles and methods; customer service and customer support principles and methods; quality assurance principles; technical documentation and training methods and procedures; financial Institution operations to include:
- Core financial applications (Symitar preferred)
- Unix administration (AIX preferred)
- Enterprise scheduling and workflow applications (SMA OpCon preferred)
- ProfitStars (TWS, Remit Plus, etc.) applications
- Common to all IT: Understanding of backup and recovery procedures; development of basic system specifications; identifying and resolving issues and problems; responding to and resolving customer requests.
- Specific to Operations: Ability to carry out server maintenance functions; skill with commonly used query languages, such as Structured Query Language (SQL); demonstrated skill with installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems components; ability to maintain database operations, monitor and troubleshoot systems availability, and configure Internet services such file
