Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Age Program Teacher to join our educational team. This role involves creating a nurturing and engaging environment for children in after-school and summer programs, fostering their social, emotional, and academic development. Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with educational standards, including literacy education, math, physical education, and Montessori methods.
- Manage classroom activities to promote positive behavior management and create an inclusive learning environment.
- Support children's social-emotional growth through behavior management strategies and individualized attention.
- Facilitate activities that promote early intervention, special education needs, and overall childhood development.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing when applicable to monitor progress and inform instruction.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other staff to support each child's educational journey and welfare.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and play.
- Engage children in activities that foster creativity, literacy skills, numeracy (including math), and physical development.
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education, classroom management, and childcare best practices.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of childhood development theories and practices including early intervention techniques.
- Experience with curriculum development across various subjects such as literacy education, math, physical education, and Montessori methods.
- Proven classroom management skills with the ability to handle diverse behavioral needs effectively.
- Experience working with children of different ages, including toddlers and preschoolers.
- Familiarity with special education requirements and accommodations for children with disabilities or special needs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to plan engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs while adhering to educational standards.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and tutoring strategies to support student achievement.
- Childcare experience in daycare or private school settings is highly desirable.
