Position Summary
Bloomwell Health LLC is seeking caring, dependable, and patient Community Living and Supports (CLS) Staff to provide one-on-one support to a young child with autism in the home and school setting. The CLS Staff will assist the child in building communication, social, and self-help skills, while helping to manage behaviors and support a structured, nurturing environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about early intervention, child development, and supporting neurodiverse learners. They may also provide respite care services from time to time

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to a young child during school routines, therapy sessions, and community outings.
  • Help the child develop independence with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as dressing, toileting, feeding, and transitions between activities.
  • Implement behavior support strategies outlined in the child's individualized service plan (ISP) and collaborate with therapists, teachers, and parents to ensure consistency.
  • Use positive reinforcement and visual supports to assist with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Promote sensory regulation through structured play, breaks, and calming techniques as directed by care or therapy teams.
  • Encourage appropriate social skills and peer interaction in the classroom and community settings.
  • Maintain accurate daily documentation of progress, observations, and behavioral data in compliance with HIPAA and NC Medicaid guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors, caregivers, and educational staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality support.
  • Provide a safe, structured, and emotionally supportive environment that respects the child's dignity and individuality.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to pass a background check and required screenings.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and patience when working with children and families.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), sensory sensitivities, or behavioral challenges in home, school, or community settings.
  • Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, TEACCH methods, or other structured teaching techniques.
  • Background in child development, early childhood education, or special education.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Flexible schedule; shifts based on school and family needs (daytime availability preferred).
  • Contract / 1099 position.
  • Competitive hourly rate: $13.00 – $15.00 per hour based on experience.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities in autism and child support strategies.
