Direct Support Professional

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by assisting them in daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their rights are respected. This position requires a commitment to patient care and a passion for working with individuals in a home or community setting.

Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Monitor and document patient progress and changes in behavior or health status.
• Provide caregiving support while respecting resident rights and promoting independence.
• Engage clients in social, recreational, and community activities to enhance their quality of life.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
• Lift and assist clients as needed to ensure their safety and comfort.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
• Provide first aid as necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and home care practices is highly desirable.
• Strong caregiving skills with the ability to lift and assist clients safely.
• Familiarity with resident rights and advocacy within home community care settings.
• Certification in first aid or CPR is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others are essential qualities for success in this role.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work 12 hour shifts.
• Working Nights.
• Work every other weekend.
