Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician / Caregiver to provide exceptional care to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, and community settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring specialized memory care. This role involves administering medications, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients. Candidates should possess strong medical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those in their care. This position is 1st shift (6AM-6PM) 12PM-6PM Thursday & 6AM-6PM Friday - Sunday.
Duties
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following all HIPAA and medical documentation protocols
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, mobility, and feeding
- Provide specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory impairments
- Maintain detailed medical records using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner
- Support patients with tube feeding, catheter care, and other complex medical needs
- Observe and report any changes in health status or behavior to nursing staff or supervisors
- Follow infection control procedures and maintain a clean, safe environment in compliance with healthcare standards
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including HIPAA and safety protocols
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, hospice or home care environments preferred
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or in memory care settings highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care procedures such as vital signs measurement and medication administration
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is a plus
- Background in nursing assistant roles or medical office experience is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with seniors and individuals with disabilities
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards
