We are hiring Surgical Techs Monday through Friday 8 or 10 hour shifts available. No scheduled case son holidays or weekends.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
  • Hands required and requested instrumentation and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure.
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping of patients.
  • Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instrument counts throughout the procedure.
  • Assists surgeons with hemostasis during surgery
  • Assists in patient positioning utilizing stabilizing equipment, when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning and irrigation.
  • Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing drain systems
  • Participates as a surgical team member in the preparation of the surgical suite according to surgeon preference cards.

Education

  • Required
  • BLS Provider within 30 days of hire.
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology program; 1 year of surgical tech experience
  • Preferred:
  • Certification in Surgical Technology
  • Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)

This position is located at the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin (OHOW). OHOW was established in 2001 as a joint venture between a group of orthopedic surgeons and Ascension Wisconsin.

OHOW focuses solely on the full-service treatment of orthopedic injuries and conditions. We provide surgery, inpatient overnight stays, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation services. These services are accomplished in our patient-centric 30-bed, 10-Operating Room orthopedic specialty hospital.
