About the Role
A Global Real Estate and Engineering firm is seeking an experienced Data Center Commissioning Project Manager to lead and manage the commissioning of mission-critical facilities. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, strong leadership capabilities, and proven experience delivering complex data center projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee commissioning projects from design through completion in accordance with ASHRAE guidelines.
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of commissioning activities, including system startup, inspections, acceptance testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Develop and manage Commissioning Plans, Specifications, and detailed test procedures (L1–L5).
- Lead commissioning meetings, performance testing, and development of SOPs/MOPs.
- Prepare and maintain all project documentation, including Systems Manuals.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and project financials.
- Act as primary client contact, providing updates, managing expectations, and ensuring project delivery.
- Utilize QA/QC and commissioning software such as BIM360, CxAlloy, or Facility Grid.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant engineering or field-testing experience, including 5 years in data center commissioning or QA/QC.
- Commissioning Professional certification preferred.
- PE or PMP designation is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of systems such as UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, and BMS/EPMS.
- Proficient in MS Project, Word, and Excel.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% across the U.S. and Canada.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in a consultancy or owner's representative organization.
- Proven ability to integrate schedule and performance data for reporting and analysis.
Work Environment
- Primarily home-based, with preference for candidates located near the Palisades, NY office.
