Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and manage all aspects of payroll processing. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely compensation for all employees while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Compensation$45,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Processing
- Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees (salaried, hourly, and contract workers)
- Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and paid time off requests
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation
- Process garnishments, tax levies, and other payroll deductions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
- Generate payroll reports for management, accounting, and auditing purposes
- Stay current on payroll-related legislation and best practices
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and tax matters
- Assist employees with direct deposit setup and changes
- Process new hire paperwork and termination documentation
- Coordinate with HR on benefits enrollment and changes affecting payroll
- Maintain and update payroll systems and employee records
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with year-end processing including W-2 preparation and distribution
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll
Required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) - Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in payroll processing
- Strong knowledge of payroll principles, tax regulations, and labor laws
- Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or similar systems)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
