Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient care, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic, along with a solid understanding of dental terminology, infection control, and medical documentation, is essential. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on delivering high-quality dental care across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring aseptic technique is maintained.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic; ensure accurate documentation of medical history and treatment plans.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in assessing patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments and managing medical records as needed.
- Stay current with advancements in dental technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; experience with dental assisting procedures is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively; certification in radiography preferred.
- Experience working within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of dental specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
