IEQ Capital is a Registered Investment Advisor seeking to transform traditional wealth management. We are an independent, predominantly employee-owned company, adhering to the fiduciary standard to put our clients' interests first. We focus our efforts on helping clients meet their investment objectives without the distractions and limitations that can arise within much larger organizations.

The Role

If you're a data professional who loves solving complex challenges, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to help shape IEQ's data-driven future, this is your opportunity.

IEQ Capital is looking for a motivated professional to join our platform team as a Data Engineer. As IEQ's first dedicated Data Engineer, you'll play a critical role in building and maintaining the pipelines, models, and integrations that power our enterprise data platform. You'll work cross-functionally with external consultants, Product, Performance Analytics, Finance, and Operations teams to design secure, reliable, and well-structured data solutions that drive decision-making and client insights.

This role blends hands-on engineering with opportunities to design, automate, and innovate across our technology stack. The ideal candidate has strong foundational data skills, is excited to work with modern cloud tools, and is ready to help define the firm's long-term data strategy.

At IEQ, data is not just a byproduct — it's the foundation that connects our advisors, operations, and clients. You'll help scale our data platform, integrate critical systems, and ensure data integrity across the organization.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement lakehouse architecture on Databricks, including ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.
  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality ETL/ELT pipelines to move and transform data from source systems into centralized repositories.
  • Develop and optimize data models that support analytics, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Connect and integrate key business systems (e.g., Addepar, Salesforce, iCapital, and other third-party SaaS platforms) into IEQ's data ecosystem.
  • Implement automated monitoring, lineage, and validation frameworks to ensure accuracy and traceability across data domains.
  • Monitor and maintain data quality, performance, and reliability across pipelines.
  • Partner with Product, Operations, and Client teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions that delivers a data foundation enabling consistent data, analytics, and future AI-driven insights
  • Implement and maintain best practices for data governance, access controls, and compliance in line with firm standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to execute on firmwide data initiatives and roadmap priorities.
  • Stay current with modern data engineering tools, technologies, and practices – recommending process and platform enhancements.
Qualifications
Required
  • Proficiency in SQL and strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling.
  • Experience with at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (Python strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts, data transformation, and data pipeline design.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred
  • 3-8 years of professional experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade data pipelines and models or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms, especially Databricks.
  • Exposure to orchestration tools.
  • Experience integrating SaaS business systems.
  • Familiarity with data governance, access management, and secure data handling practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable solutions that balance performance, maintainability, and compliance.
