Client Overview:

High Country Search is partnering with a full-service engineering, design, and construction management firm supporting clients across the oil & gas, midstream, heavy industrial, mining, and manufacturing sectors. From its Denver-area headquarters, the firm delivers multidiscipline projects across North America—from focused engineering studies to full-scale, multi-hundred-million-dollar facility EPCs. Known for its deep technical bench, fast-paced "gas patch" execution, and highly collaborative, in-office culture, the organization offers project leaders the chance to own complex work while partnering closely with cross-functional teams and long-term clients.

Position Summary:

The Senior Project Manager will lead large, complex EPC projects—particularly midstream gas processing and related facilities—owning execution from concept through startup. Reporting to senior leadership, this individual will act as the "quarterback" for multi-discipline project teams, with full responsibility for scope, cost, schedule, and risk on projects that may exceed $100–200MM in total installed cost. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a proven EPC leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys balancing commercial and technical decisions, and can drive accountability across engineering, procurement, construction management, and project controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead major EPC projects (e.g., cryogenic gas processing plants and similar midstream facilities) from proposal through commissioning, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Own the integrated execution plan and provide overall leadership across engineering, procurement, construction management, and project controls—keeping the full team aligned to milestones and deliverables.
  • Oversee two dedicated project managers (engineering-focused and logistics/procurement-focused), plus assigned project controls, document control, and construction management resources.
  • Serve as the primary client point of contact, leading status meetings, progress reviews, and critical-path discussions while managing scope changes, risks, and performance.
  • Drive financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, earned value insights, and overall project profitability.
  • Participate in and lead key project phases such as design reviews, PHA/HAZOP workshops, model reviews, and construction walk-downs—typically including periodic trips to project sites (e.g., West Texas, New Mexico, and select other locations).
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders on bids, negotiations, contracts, and major procurement decisions.
  • Support proposal development for new projects, including high-level schedules, budgets, and scopes of work.
  • Mentor and guide junior project managers and project engineers, promoting best practices in EPC execution, risk management, and client relationship management.
  • Act as a true "driver" on the project—stepping in quickly when issues arise, pressing for clarity and action, and ensuring the team stays focused on results.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; an engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Structural, or Electrical) strongly preferred.
  • PMP certification or Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
  • 7+ years of technical project management or comparable technical leadership experience required; 10+ years strongly preferred.
  • Proven success managing large, complex EPC projects in oil & gas—ideally midstream gas processing, NGL, LNG, or related process facilities—with significant CAPEX (e.g., $100–200MM+).
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidiscipline teams (engineering, procurement, construction, project controls) through full lifecycle—from FEED through construction and startup.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, earned value, and managing project profitability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, comfortable working with executives, clients, and field teams.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project or Primavera), MS Office, and modern collaboration platforms.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel (typically up to ~20%) for design reviews, PHAs, model reviews, and monthly construction site visits.

Location & Work Style:
This is an
in-office role
based in the Denver metro area; candidates must be local or willing to relocate and be present in the office to collaborate with engineering, construction, and leadership teams.

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to own large, complex EPC projects with full authority—from early design through construction and startup—supported by a deep technical bench and highly collaborative leadership. If you're a driven, hands-on project leader who thrives in fast-moving midstream environments and wants real ownership, visibility, and impact, this role offers a compelling next step.
