Production Cook

Job Overview:
We are seeking to hire a cook with a passion for food who thrives in a dynamic, high-volume environment to assist in the production of Vermont Country Deli signature dishes and seasonal soups, salads, and entrees. The ideal candidate is hard-working, dependable, able to follow recipes, and works in an organized and timely manner.

Pay Range: $16-$18 per hour plus tips

Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling and chopping
• Preparing all dishes to meet company recipes and standards
• Collaboration on daily specials
• Incorporate seasonal and local ingredients
• Assist with all activities related to receiving, stocking and rotating orders
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and walk ins are kept clean and tidy
• Monitor inventory, ensuring efficient use of supplies and minimizing waste
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work areas and equipment while preparing food items for our deli
• Ensure food health and safety regulations are followed
• Respect and proactively help kitchen team members

Qualifications:

The following is preferred, but we will train the right person:

• Previous experience in a culinary role, preferably in a high volume or production kitchen
• Knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, culinary techniques
• Experience using cutting tools, cookware and knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
• Possess knowledge of food preparation and storage, sanitation requirements and commercial kitchen equipment

Required:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure efficiently
• Understanding of hospitality standards and customer service
• Must be able to stand for long periods
• Frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting will be required
• Must be able to move up to 55lbs
