Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant/Assistant manages the financials for multiple companies under the same ownership group and assists the Controller with monthly reconciliations and reporting. This role involves collaborating with senior management and providing financial analysis, ensuring that the business entities' day-to-day financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Financial Reporting and Analysis
:

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reconcile accounts, and perform variance and trend analysis.
  • Review year-end analysis and cost variances and prepare reports with recommendations.
  • Gather and document business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and creating reports and dashboards to provide data-driven insights.
  • Maintenance of organized system of accounting records to support financial reporting.

Accounting Operations
:

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting processes, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, fixed assets, expense management, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Utilization of tools and software to prepare dashboards and financial summaries to discuss with and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Data Extraction and Preparation: Acquire data from the ERP system and other primary/secondary sources, clean and structure large datasets to ensure accuracy and integrity for analysis.
  • Data Mining and Analysis
    :
    Apply statistical analysis, data mining, and predictive modeling techniques to interpret complex financial data sets and identify patterns, trends, and potential risks or opportunities (e.g., fraud detection, cost savings, profit optimization).
  • Strategic Support: Work with management to prioritize business information needs and provide analytical support for strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting initiatives.

Budgeting and Forecasting
:

  • Support the creation of the company budget and financial forecasts, tracking against targets, identifying areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvements, and monitoring financial performance.

Internal Controls and Compliance
:

  • Help establish and maintain internal controls, ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulations and industry standards, and assist with tax filings to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline financial processes and use of resources and materials.

Audit Support
:

  • Provide support to the external audit process by preparing requested documents and serving as a liaison.
  • Assists Controller and external auditors for annual and quarterly audits.

Education and Your Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, or another industry-related field required; or equivalent experience and education required.
  • At least 3-5 years of industry-related experience including Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller positions.
  • Experience with data analytics and ERP programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and adapt to changing business environments.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP accounting practices, budgeting and cost accounting.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Accounting and Payroll software programs, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.
