We are currently seeking an Aero Systems Engineering Specialist to join our Ottawa based team, who combines strong analytical capability with hands-on flight test and systems integration experience to support MMIST's current and next-generation airborne systems.
What will you be doing?
- Analyze flight test and operational data to evaluate airdrop system performance, reliability, and environmental effects using MATLAB and Python.
- Develop data processing workflows to clean, synchronize, and analyze multi-sensor flight datasets from test and operational missions.
- Assess aerodynamic behavior, wind effects, and trajectory accuracy to support safe and repeatable aerial delivery operations.
- Support performance characterization and verification activities in support of qualification and acceptance.
- Support integration, validation, and performance assessment of onboard sensors and avionics relevant to aerial delivery, monitoring, and mission assurance.
- Interface with embedded systems and flight hardware to support data collection and telemetry.
- Contribute to flight control and guidance system analysis, including support to C++-based implementations and test activities.
- Participate directly in flight test campaigns, including test planning, execution, and post-flight analysis.
- Develop automated tools for trajectory planning, waypoint generation, and test optimization, adapting to wind, payload, and mission constraints.
- Support operational demonstrations, trials, and customer engagements, including deployments to remote and austere environments.
What do we need from you?
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related field OR equivalent 3+ years of relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python; working knowledge of C++ for aerospace or embedded applications would also be an asset.
- Experience with Requirements Management tools and Configuration Management tools.
- Experience with development of formal verification procedures.
