position summary

reporting to the plant manager, the production scheduler is a critical operational role responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the daily and weekly production schedule for the feversham facility. this position ensures customer orders are translated into executable production plans by balancing demand, available inventory, warehouse capacity, labour, and production line availability.

the production scheduler works closely with the production manager and warehouse manager on site, while also collaborating with customer service and demand planning teams through the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process. this role is essential to maintaining order fulfillment performance, minimizing production disruptions, and ensuring efficient use of plant capacity.



key responsibilities

production planning & scheduling

  • develop and maintain daily, weekly, and short-term production schedules to meet customer order requirements and forecasted demand.
  • translate customer orders into production plans across multiple sequential operations, factoring in labour availability, equipment capacity, inventory levels, and warehouse space.
  • create, release, and manage production orders within sap to support finished goods production.
  • adjust schedules in real time to respond to changes in demand, inventory constraints, equipment downtime, or operational disruptions.

inventory & capacity management

  • monitor finished goods and raw material inventory levels to identify potential shortfalls or overages.
  • proactively adjust production schedules to mitigate inventory risks and communicate impacts to key stakeholders.
  • collaborate with the warehouse manager to ensure storage capacity aligns with production plans and inventory flow.

cross-functional collaboration & communication

  • serve as the primary scheduling liaison between the plant and customer service / demand planning teams.
  • participate actively in operational meetings and provide clear communication on schedules, changes, risks, and constraints.
  • contribute planning data and analysis to the sales & operations planning (S&OP) process, supporting informed decision-making.

systems, data & continuous improvement

  • maintain accurate transactional data within sap and supporting excel tools, including development and maintenance of planning spreadsheets.
  • track and report key production planning kpis, including schedule adherence, order fill rates, and inventory performance.
  • identify opportunities to improve production planning, demand planning, and scheduling processes to increase efficiency and reliability.


education, skills & experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in production scheduling, production planning, or supply chain coordination within a manufacturing environment.
  • post-secondary education in business administration, supply chain, operations management, or a related field preferred.
  • experience working with erp systems (sap strongly preferred).
  • advanced proficiency in microsoft excel, including data analysis and planning tools.
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels of the organization.
  • comfortable managing time-sensitive information and navigating changing priorities in a fast-paced plant environment.

Working Environment & Physical Demands

  • primarily office-based within a manufacturing facility, with regular interaction on the production floor.
  • requires close collaboration with operations personnel and participation in daily production discussions.
  • fast-paced environment requiring flexibility, responsiveness, and strong organizational skills.
